I stopped in Cambridge Petco today. That large indoor 'pond' is empty and is being given away for free. It's has signs all over it saying "Free","You remove it".It's been at the store since it was Boston Pet.

If people have not seen this......
It's a large, kind of octagon shaped glass tank sitting on a wooden stand.
The tank is roughly 20 feet long and maybe six feet wide in spots. It is only about 20-24 inches deep.Top is all open.It is an odd shape. The wooden stand is about a foot high.It has some type of plumbed filtration system in the back.

It would definetly have to be dismantled to move it out of store, never mind into a house.

It might fit into the back of a pickup, if not then a flatbed.

The "pond" is a doggy bone shape. I like it and I want it, but it would have to go in my basement. I think they are giving it away because it is in serious need of repairs.

It leaked before and instead of scraping off the old silicone, they globbed more on the seam. I'm not surprised if they are giving it away because it's leaking again.

The thing that seems like it really needs work is the stand.I didn't look real close but one corner had quite a bit of rot.I'm sure it sat in water many times from the leaks it has had over the years.
The glass panels probably wouldn't be too hard to repair/replace for someone that knows how to do it right. Many of them are only about 2 feet by 2 feet.

It really would be nice once cleaned up and any repairs made.

They do clean up nice. I took one home years ago from a petco I worked at in CT. I used it for RT cats, and large cichlids.

Hey Rich
How are you?
That must have nice.I thought the same thing-RTC's and some large Central American Cichlids, like a small Mo Devlin setup.
You can tell the tank/stand are excellent quality but showing their age.

Hey Tom!

I'm good thanks. Yeah I really liked the one I had, and so did the fish! It was really cool to give them that kind of room.

I dismantled it to move it. The trick with reassembly is to make sure to get ALL of the old silicone off. I did that, and cleaned the glass edges with vinegar (smelled like a salad for a week!).

Another thing that is really important (especially with a tank that has angle cuts), is to have some GOOD clamps to hold the joints in place while they dry.

If you re-assemble it correctly, it won't leak. Mine didn't, and when I got rid of it I sold it for $1000! If you do get it, throw some channel cats in there. They get HUGE!
