Anyone breeding any classic or wild strains? I am doing RT blues at the moment. I'd like to try and find some TR hi fins, or TR hi fin swords. If you're breeding any of that drop a post or a PM.

Hey Rich,

I had some standard red-tail blues until recently (they were out-competed by the ameca's in the same tank - poor planning on my part) - these were the redtail blues with the yellow dorsal.

I recently got some hifin redtail blues, although they are variatus, I suspect alot of 'standard' platy in the mix (a few of the fish in the same tank were showing the mickey mouse pattern on the tail).

No fry yet, but I'm hoping to get them started during the next few months, then move at least at trio outside once the weather warms, and raise them in a shallow pond.

Rich

Yep, mine are the standards with the yellow dorsal as well. I have had 2 drops so far (I picked pre-hit females). Did you get yours at Tropic Isle? I picked up 2 pairs for $8. Keep me posted on the hi-fins, I'd definately be interested in them. Also would REALLY like some of the yellow strains like sunset or marigold.

short fins were originally from Petco, and a few from Skiptons... hifins are from Skiptons - $4 each for the hifins

They do seem to have them pretty consistantly lately
One of my fave livebearers, especially the RT Blues

Yeah, I like the variatus the best too. I had some wild form ones from Rusty a long time ago. He spoke at the Norwalk club and brought some along for the auction. I'd love to have some of those again. I'll drop into skiptons soon. If you see any of the sunset, or marigold variety, scoop them and put em in another tank. Lemme know and I'll come get them. I'll keep you in mind for some RT fry.
